What to Prepare for During Your Big Test Driving Day

As the day of your driving test draws near, it is only normal to feel anxious and excited at the same time. Anxious because you are not exactly sure of what that day would be like, and excited because passing your driving test means you can finally get a driving license. But you will be less anxious if you prepare for the driving test well, with pre test driving lessons.

Maybe you have nursed the thought of being able to sit behind the wheels and pilot your car to your favorite destination, but it has only been a fantasy, your driving test day is the first step to making your dream come through.

What Should I Expect During The Driving Test?
You should expect to answer questions and test your new skill.

The driving test which usually lasts for about 30-45 minutes will cover questions related to the rules of the road, the skills required to drive properly and it will test our knowledge of safety while on the road.

Similarly, your driving will be assessed on the basis of what you were taught during your ETD lesson. Such as, traffic light use, over taking, speed, road signs, use of mirrors and so on.

What Should My Driving Test Checklist Look Like?
Are you thrilled about your soon coming day? Well, we are just as happy for you. Now that you have received your test date, here is a list of things that you should put together before the morning of your driving test.

1. The L-plates: You will need to put it in front of the vehicle and place the second plate at the back, as a safety  to others, while you drive.
2. Ensure your current learner permit license is ready, you will need to bring it with you.
3. Whether you decide to use your instructor’s vehicle or any other vehicle, make sure that you are insured to drive it for a test.  The car has to display valid original insurance, tax disc, and NCT to indicate that you are covered to drive the car.
4. Make sure the vehicle that you will be using is in tune with the driving license section that you’re enrolled for.
5. Be at the testing centre early enough and ensure the vehicle you will be using is clean and in proper working condition.

As a bonus, if you still feel anxious on the morning of your driving test, you can take a pre-test, under the supervision of your instructor, to shake off the nervousness.

Aside from calming down your nerves, you can make mistakes during the pre-test, so that you do not end up repeating them during the main test.

What Are The Most Important Things That I Need To Remember During The Test?
Now that you have a chance to prove to others and to yourself that you have what it takes to be given a driving license, here is what you should remember.

 If you take a wrong turn, it would not affect your test result. It’s the same as if you forget a direction. So relax and drive as you should.
 It is okay to not be a perfectionist while driving. After all, you are not a
qualified driver. The most important thing will be to put on your best
performance without being too conscious of perfection.
 No dangerous faults, up to eight serious and lots of minor marks still does not cause you to fail
the test. Refuse to panic at one minor fault; instead, maintain your composure
and stay focused.

I HAVE FINISHED MY TEST, WHAT IS NEXT?
This is where you get to know whether you passed or failed. When you have parked the vehicle, you will be accompanied to the test center by your driving examiner.

If you have passed your test, you will be given a certificate of competence.
Exciting, right? You will need to bring this to the NDLS.

On the other hand, if you fail the test, your examiner may tell you what mistakes you made. You can use the list to improve on yourself before applying again for your driving test.
