Costs.

Stage 1 – Theory Test.
RSA fees: €150.
Study materials: €100.
Recommended mentoring two 1 & 1/2 hour sessions: €190.
Total cost stage 1: €440.

Stage 2 – Advanced Driving Test.
RSA fees: €200.
Study materials: €15.
Recommended six 1 & 1/2 hour driving assessment and training sessions – €575.
Total cost stage 2: €790.

*Having completed Stage 2 you can begin working as a trainee ADI for up to 6 months.

Stage 3 – Instructional ability.
RSA fees €:200.
Study materials: €100.
Recommended ten 1 & 1/2 hour instructor demonstration, training and assessment: €925.
Total cost stage 3: €1,225.

Cost of 27 hours training: €1,690.
Individual training €65 per hour.
Sitting in to observe an ADI trainer giving a lesson €20.

*Optional Trainee ADI mentoring program.
RSA fees: €50.
Initial practice training required by the RSA 20 hours: €990.
RSA requirement to supervise 20% of trainee ADI lessons: €55 per hour.

Additional information.

One week as a full time driving instructor giving 30 hours driving lessons in your area could earn you €1,250. Before you can work as an ADI you must have held your full Irish driving licence for at least two years and be over 21 years of age. Additionally, you must obtain a Tax Clearance Cert. Then finally you must give consent to Garda Vetting by requesting a form from adi@rsa.ie.
