Currently most driving instructors drive manual. This applies to ourselves at Allied Driving Instructors and all driving schools in Ireland. But if you have an automatic and some driving experience, we have the skill and the knowledge to complete your EDT lessons and help you pass the driving test. Many people will have started their driving lessons in manual and then swapped to automatic, as it is easier. There is no reason for you to start your EDT lessons again. You can change instructor or transmission type without any problems. Your instructor should give you your logbook at the end of each lesson.
Where can I get automatic driving lessons?
As a result availability of the automatic driving school cars is very limited. However it may be possible to supply an automatic for tests, reduced EDT and EDT lessons in Navan, Mulhuddart and Swords. Also potentially in Finglas, Raheny, Tallaght and Crumlin in Dublin. As well as Rathcoole, Lucan and Leixlip. It is not possible to supply an automatic driving school car outside of these areas. Additionally booking in advance is very important.
If you pass your driving test in an automatic you are only licenced to drive automatics. However this is not as much of an issue as it used to be. Almost all hybrid and electric cars are automatic. There for the number of automatics is increasing year on year. Going forward more driving instructors will be getting automatics. Due to this the availability of automatic driving lessons will also increase. The above is our availability of instructors with automatics as of 2022. Drop us an email, text, WhatsApp or call to see if we can help with driving lessons in automatic for your area.
